Balenciaga Haute Couture: Pierpaolo Piccioli Opens a New Chapter

For his first Haute Couture collection as Creative Director of Balenciaga, Pierpaolo Piccioli makes a confident statement. Presented at the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris, the collection reinterprets the house's iconic codes through a vision that is fluid, contemporary and remarkably free.

Balenciaga's signature sculptural volumes remain at the heart of the collection, yet they appear lighter than ever, moving naturally with the body. Piccioli favours fluidity over rigidity, creating Haute Couture designed for modern life. Architectural coats, impeccably tailored silhouettes, delicate transparencies and soft fabrics combine to create a wardrobe where sophistication meets effortless elegance.

The collection also highlights a discreet approach to craftsmanship. Rather than displaying technical complexity, the construction is hidden within each garment, allowing the purity of the silhouette and the beauty of movement to take centre stage. It is a reminder that true luxury lies as much in what cannot be seen as in what is visible.

Innovation plays a key role throughout the collection. Using 3D body scans, the ateliers developed coats and dresses precisely adapted to each client's shape, blending traditional couture craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Balenciaga also introduces Amsilk, a renewable silk-like material produced without fossil resources, while continuing its exploration of Neo Gazar, a contemporary interpretation of the iconic fabric created by Cristóbal Balenciaga.

The show concludes with Gigi Hadid wearing a spectacular feather creation developed in collaboration with milliner Philip Treacy. A striking finale that perfectly captures the spirit of the collection: bold, architectural and emotionally refined.
