MULBERRY BY CHRISTOPHER KANE: THE GREAT BRITISH CHIC COMEBACK IN LONDON

In London, British fashion is reclaiming its bold spirit. For his first runway show at Mulberry, Christopher Kane unveils a Spring/Summer 2027 collection that is irreverent, sensual and deeply rooted in the house’s heritage.

Presented at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre during London Fashion Week, the collection, entitled “City, Town, Country,” marks a double comeback: Mulberry’s return to the runway after a six-year absence and Christopher Kane’s return to the spotlight after closing his own label in 2023.

The Scottish designer approaches Mulberry’s historic codes with exhilarating freedom. The celebrated Postman’s Lock appears on loafers, while the distinctive lines of the Bayswater bag inspire the cut and construction of leather dresses. Structured parkas, Scottish checks, crocodile-effect textures and graphic silhouettes create a wardrobe in which British tradition meets provocative modernity.

Accessories naturally take centre stage. The iconic Bayswater is reimagined through new proportions and finishes, alongside new designs with evocative names such as the Axe and the Chop. Some shoes even feature sculptural, axe-shaped metal heels — a radical detail that perfectly captures the collection’s fearless spirit.

Christopher Kane does not attempt to erase Mulberry’s heritage. Instead, he disrupts and electrifies it, creating a new creative tension. Blending urban elegance, references to the Scottish landscape and distinctly British humour, the designer introduces a sharper vision of the house while remaining faithful to its leather craftsmanship.

Welcomed with a standing ovation, this debut runway show opens a particularly promising new chapter. London once again demonstrates what it does best: bringing heritage and avant-garde creativity together, combining craftsmanship with eccentricity and transforming an institution into fashion’s latest obsession.
