FG CHIC London: Raffles at The OWO, Where Luxury Meets Espionage

In the heart of Whitehall, just steps from Buckingham Palace and Westminster, one of London’s most secretive buildings has been transformed into an extraordinary palace hotel: Raffles London at The OWO.

Once home to the British War Office, this monumental Edwardian building witnessed some of the defining moments of the twentieth century. Winston Churchill walked its corridors, British intelligence services operated behind its imposing walls, and Ian Fleming found inspiration here for the world of James Bond.

After an eight-year restoration, the Grade II, listed landmark has been reborn as a spectacular hotel combining historic grandeur with contemporary luxury. Its 120 rooms and suites reinterpret classic Edwardian style through rich fabrics, bespoke furniture, marble bathrooms and architectural details meticulously preserved by skilled craftspeople.

The five Heritage Suites occupy offices once used by influential military and political figures. Grand staircases, mosaic floors, oak panelling and soaring ceilings create an atmosphere that feels both cinematic and deeply British.

The palace is also a destination for gastronomy, with nine restaurants and three bars. Guests can discover Mauro Colagreco’s seasonal cuisine, the Japanese rooftop restaurant Kioku by Endo or the clandestine Spy Bar, hidden in former interrogation rooms where photography remains forbidden.

Beneath the building, the Guerlain Spa offers a serene escape with a 20-metre swimming pool, while the rooftop reveals panoramic views across London.

More than a luxury hotel, Raffles London at The OWO is an immersive journey through power, secrecy and elegance—a unique address where guests do not simply stay in London; they enter its history.
